Did you know? I’ve been “Jess” ever since I had a boyfriend (of sorts) who told me “Jessica” was difficult to say. 😐 No, he wasn’t from Sweden or anywhere that there might have been a legitimate language barrier. I truly don’t have a preference between Jessica and Jess at this point but there was a time when I believed my name was difficult to pronounce for some. 😅 I say boyfriend “of sorts” because growing up in the 2000s purity culture of the evangelical church, did we have boyfriends? We had all “Kissed Dating Goodbye” so I never knew what to call him. Anyway, that’s ancient history.
I’m a mom of two, a step-mom, a long-term girlfriend, a daughter, a sister, a realtor, a landlord, an investor and entrepreneur, a dog mom, a cat mom, a former farmer… some I’m sure have other, less flattering labels for me! 🤣 defining oneself in categories is such a futile game. I guess that’s why I’m inspired to begin jotting down thoughts again, because does anyone really know me? Do my kids?
It’s tough because everyone makes videos now and maybe I will get there, but I have tried and it’s just not me as I exist currently. I love the written word. It feels so much more permanent, more intentional than speech. If I say, “like” here then I meant to…
